organize the Student Workshop
Workshop on Taiwan Studies: Taiwan – Past and Present
Duration:August 26-31, 2010
Venue:Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic
The decision to organize the second "Workshop on Taiwan Studies: Taiwan – Past and Present", to be held on August 26-31, 2013, was motivated by the success of the first workshop in 2010. Since Taiwan Studies and Taiwan-related topics are still underrepresented in degree programs at European universities, the workshop will be treated as the equivalent of a one-semester course (4 credits). The main emphasis will lie on Taiwanese culture, history, literature, film, and contemporary politics. The wider goal is to promote Taiwan Studies among Eastern and Western European students of Chinese Studies and other, related fields. Students will also be offered practical information about networking possibilities within Europe (EATS, Poland, UK) and study opportunities in Taiwan.
The workshop is designed for students in Chinese/Asian Studies who have a research interest in Taiwan. Drawing from European universities, the workshop will host a maximum of 30 students.
Deadline for Students Registration:
Students interested to take part in the workshop shall write to the local organizer, Táňa Dluhošová (email@example.com) by May 15, 2013.
Students will be provided for free with the accommodation at Masaryk University Students dormitory (in double rooms), but the organizers encourage students to search for further funding to cover other expenses.
Fee and service
The tuition fee is 800 CZK (approx. 35 Euros). Students will be provided with free accommodation at the Masaryk University Student Dormitory (in double rooms) and small refreshments. The organizers encourage students to seek further funding opportunities to cover additional expenses.
